Driving sustainability
for a better future

Did you know that we use the sun as a key part of our production process?
In the Atacama Desert, extreme solar radiation allows for continuous evaporation and natural drying of salts, giving us a unique competitive advantage.
Climate Change
and Sustainability
At SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal, we recognize climate change as a key material issue and a central pillar of our sustainability strategy. It is regularly discussed by the Board and senior management, guiding investment decisions, ESG performance and participation in global indices such as Dow Jones and FTSE4Good. In 2024 we carry out an analysis of climate scenarios focused on three priority risks, allowing us to design better long-term mitigation and resilience strategies.

Our Sustainability Aspirations

Acting with integrity and transparency is a fundamental part of our way of doing things. Through the Ethics and Compliance Program, which is an essential pillar of our corporate culture, we promote ethical, responsible conduct that is aligned with current regulations.
Our work focuses in 3 pillars: 1.- Strengthen our network of local suppliers, with the aspiration that by 2030 at least 30% of our suppliers be local. 2.- Promote the incorporation of talent in the regions where we operate, through programs such as Training and Apprentices and SQMentors, who promote future professionals through mentoring, skills training and creation of networks. 3.- Build long-term relationships with communities, based on direct dialogue, trust and collaboration.
A fundamental pillar to maintain our global competitiveness, productivity and capacity of adaptation. We promote it through various areas who lead initiatives focused on efficiency, economy circular, digitalization and sustainable solutions for agriculture.
Accident-free performance aspiration serious or fatal through preventive leadership.
Our aspiration is to reduce the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions Scope 1 and 2 by 30% by 2035, taking 2023 levels as a reference. We will evaluate continues low-emission technologies with a realistic, responsible and sustainable approach.
Today, our operations use 100% continental water. We aim to reduce the use of continental water to 60% by 2035. To achieve this, the TEA project will be key, since it will incorporate seawater in the operation of New Victory.
