SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal receives worldwide certification for energy and environmental management

Coya Sur and Nueva Victoria were the sites evaluated by this audit process.
"The international certifying company TUV Rheinland accredited that the Coya Sur and the Nueva Victoria mine and leaching area meet high standards of excellence in these matters. The ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 certifications, both international standards, were delivered in a ceremony to SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal company executives by Gonzalo de Castro, Global Field Manager Certification of Management Systems, TÜV Rheinland and Thorsten Malchow, Head of System Certification Division South America.
In this regard, Pablo Altimiras, General Manager of SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal, said "receiving these international certifications is very important for the company because it shows the consistency we have with our Sustainability Plan. In addition, two of our values are Sustainability and Excellence, but beyond declaring it, we have to move forward in different actions and concrete challenges, and these ISOs demonstrate the work we are doing to care for the environment and our surroundings".
Gonzalo de Castro, Global Field Manager Certification of Management Systems, TÜV Rheinland, said "although the certification process was a long process, I thank SQM for its commitment to continuous improvement, energy efficiency and environmental management. I am sure that they will again have the same successes that they have already had with ISO 9001, and that today through these two certifications they will achieve an increasingly sustainable operation".
During the ceremony, a panel discussion entitled "Challenges and Advances in Certification Processes" was held, with the participation of Gonzalo de Castro and Thorsten Malchow from TÜV Rheinland; Ignacio Majluf, Manager of Management and Sustainability at SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal; and Adrián Becerra, Sustainability Engineer at SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal, who explained the importance of implementing these standards for the industry in terms of caring for the environment.
In this context, Ignacio Majluf, Manager of Management and Sustainability SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal, commented "for us these two major milestones are very relevant because they help us as a company to advance in environmental and energy management issues, structuring action plans in an orderly manner, with leadership, roles and functions that drive us to continuous improvement in all our processes"".
CERTIFICATIONS AND ALLIANCES
"Currently, SQM Iodine and Plant Nutrition has several national and international certifications, which demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to reduce the impact of climate change. These objectives are part of the roadmap of its Sustainability Plan, which responds to the expectations of the communities surrounding its operations as well as to governmental, social, environmental and commercial requirements, in addition to the commitments made in its Environmental Qualification Resolutions.
One of the most recent certifications was ECOPORTS, which was awarded to Puerto SQM Tocopilla for complying with and managing environmental regulations with global standards in the port sector."
