SQM and NASA Advance Agricultural Research in Extreme Environments

The Atacama Desert was the setting for a visit by NASA scientists, who traveled to northern Chile to learn about the work SQM is carrying out in crop production under extreme conditions. The visit took place as part of the Desert Consortium and aimed to evaluate the knowledge, technologies, and data generated in the region that could contribute to future space missions.

During the visit, the delegation toured initiatives developed in the Pampa del Tamarugal, where conditions such as extreme aridity, high radiation, and salinity make the area a natural laboratory for scientific research. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge related to innovation, plant nutrition, and agricultural production in challenging environments.
