More than 100 young people will be part of the first Environmental Network of Tocopilla

Through the signing of a commitment between regional and local authorities, students, teachers, and representatives of Mr. Barber Foundation and SQM Iodine Plant Nutrition, the first Environmental Network of the city was launched, an instance aimed at forming innovative agents of change for the care and protection of the environment.
"In order to train innovators and environmental leaders, the Mr. Barber Foundation, with the support of SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal and the Municipality of Tocopilla, launched the Environmental Network program, whose environmental initiative will benefit 100 students from five educational institutions, providing them with essential tools and training to promote care for the environment.
The schools involved are: Colegio Sagrada Familia, Escuela República de Estados Unidos, Escuela Arturo Prat, Escuela Carlos Condell and Liceo Domingo Latrille, who will be part of this pilot project, which will promote ecological awareness, creating support networks for workshops and field work.
In this context, the director of the Mr. Barber Foundation, Carolina Elgueta, said "through this network we are going to develop a whole program of sustainable climate action with children. From their perspective, co-creating actions and also understanding what motivates them to develop beautiful, positive initiatives that directly benefit their own families and their populations. Therefore, we invite everyone to join this process that will be developed starting this year in Tocopilla".
In addition, participants in the Environmental Network will have the opportunity to engage in extraordinary activities involving the community and institutions, with the purpose of making a significant contribution to the improvement of local environments.
It is important to mention that the Mr. Barber Foundation is an organization committed to the integral development of citizens and families by promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly initiatives. With the support of SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal and the Municipality of Tocopilla, they seek to create a greener and more sustainable future for the community.
In this regard, Marcela Olivos, Pampa Community Relations Manager of SQM Yodo Nutrición Vegetal, commented "we are very pleased to promote this initiative together with Mr. Barber Foundation where more than 100 students from different schools in Tocopilla are participating. Therefore, I invite neighbors, teachers and different organizations to strengthen this environmental network to jointly contribute to the sustainable development of the commune".
On the other hand, Rodrigo Varas, in charge of Environmental Education at the República de Estados Unidos School, who was part of this inaugural milestone, said: "I think it is a powerful instance in the sense of linking different organizations, actors and educational establishments in this commune, with the objective of continuing to generate environmental awareness in the commune. We hope that this instance can reach as many people as possible, starting with the environmental groups of each school".
Finally, Yanira Diaz, student 6B Escuela República de Estados Unidos, who will be one of 100 students in this Network explained "I think it's great to be part of this instance where they will teach us more things and new experiences about caring for the environment. I am excited because this way I can teach more people at home about this".
